The Dover/Kent County Metropolitan Planning Organization is gaining a new perspective on bicycle facilities in central Delaware. Your friendly, neighborhood agency that helps coordinate transportation planning and programs for Kent County (that's us!) is working on a bicycle plan. A committee comprised of MPO staff, members of the public, as well as state, county and municipal officials started work on the plan last fall. The plan will show where bike trails, lanes and other facilities are located in central Delaware, how they connect, where they don't connect, and where there's room to improve on bicycle facilities.
A big part of the plan is public input.
The MPO as much as possible looks for public input for its plans and programs. The bicycle plan is no exception. If you ride a bike, we want to know where you ride. If you don't ride, we want to know why not. We want to know how you feel bike facilities in central Delaware can improve. Comments are welcome via U.S. mail at P.O. Box 383, Dover, DE 19903 and through e-mail to kate.layton@doverkentmpo.org. Look for the MPO at an event near you where we also will have bicycle surveys for you to fill out. This survey also is available online. Click on the Surveys tab for the link.
