An MPO Regional Bicycle Plan is in the works!

The Dover/Kent County MPO is gaining a new perspective on bicycle facilities in central Delaware. Your friendly, neighborhood agency that coordinates transportation planning and programs for Kent County is working on a bicycle plan. A committee comprised of MPO staff, members of the public, as well as state, county and municipal officials started work on the plan last fall. The plan is to show where bike trails, lanes, racks and other facilities are located in central Delaware, show how they connect, where they don't connect and where there's room for improvement.

Walkable Communities Workshops offered

Want to find out how to make your community more walkable? How about simply more accessible to residents and visitors? Central Delaware municipalities can sponsor a Walkable Communities Workshop with the Dover/Kent County MPO. The workshops provide information on what makes a community walkable and what sidewalks and bike paths offer a community. Attendees then take a stroll around the neighborhood. For more information, contact the MPO at (302) 387-6026 or (302) 387-6030. E-mails are welcome to: kate.layton@doverkentmpo.org

Join the PAC!

The Dover/Kent County MPO is looking for enthusiastic people who are interested in joining its Public Advisory Committee. PAC members are citizen volunteers who help link the MPO with the public in transportation matters as well as make sure people are aware of the organization's transportation plans and programs. They also occasionally aid MPO staff at public outreach events. Potential members must reside within the MPO's jurisdiction, which includes all of Kent County, Smyrna and Milford. For more information, contact the MPO at:(302) 387-6026 or (302) 387-6030. E-mails are welcome to: kate.layton@doverkentmpo.org

If you want to see the PAC in action, the public is always welcome to attend bi-monthly meetings. The next PAC meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, at the Festival Buffet at Dover Downs, Dover, DE.
